How to use the kayak
The kayak is heavy. You need two people to put it on the water. If you drag
it on your own you may damage it. Do not sit on the kayak till the
water is at least two feet deep. Wear shoes. There are sharp, rocks, corals, and
sea urchins. The sea is usually calm and kayaking is
usually enjoyable, easy, an safe. Weather can change... do not go too far
from the coast. Always use a life vest. We suggest you start your trip
going east, towards the pier... the currents and wind usually go east to west... so it will
be easyer to return than to go...
When you no longer use the kayak you must place it back in it original
position far from the water and never lower than the deck, do not leave it unsuperviced by the sea... the tide may come up
and the kakay may be damaged or float away.
TV:
Local TV in Master Bedroom: The master bedroom TV is connected to local TV. There are only 3
or 4 channels.
Satellite TV in Living Room:
We have a satellite FTA, (Free To Air) TV system with hundreds of channels, CNN, CNBC, ABC,
BBC, NBC, Bloomberg, Cartoon Network, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, PPV's, and
many more including Pay per View channels.
For the system to work the TV must be on channel 3 and the input has to be
AV2
The TV start on AV2 but if it does not you set that with the TV black
remote control using the "input" button. After this you no longer need the
TV black remote control.
From know on you use the gray remote control which is fore the sat
receiver/
Only the living room TV is connected to the satellite dish. The black
remote control is for the TV. The gray remote control is for the satellite
box. This system works fine some 350 day of the year...but it does not
work sometimes...
The satellite system requires a new code/programming
from time to time. Do not try to change the code or change the settings on
your own. If the sat system does not work call TS&T to see if receiver
needs to be reprogrammed. Do not touch the satellite dishes, do not try to
adjust the dishes. If you move the dish you will not be able to see any TV
and we will charge you $125 to set the dish to the original position. If
the tech says someone touched the dish: you pay to set it again.
TS&T Electronics. Located in a small shopping plaza right
before Hurley supermarket. Between Hurleys and the gas station.
Phones: 925 6015 or 947 8783 (their office)
Should the satellite box require service, new codes,
or new software, we will expect you to take the box to the satellite
people shop, they are on their way to town by the road, and can fix things
while you wait. You may be charged $25. We will refund that fee with your
deposit. If you are not willing to do this then you may not enjoy the FTA
Satellite TV but will still have access to local channels...
We do not guarantee Sat TV, but when it works, and it
works most of the time, you get several hundred channels and many free Pay
Per view channels you can see at no cost...
We have two 32 inch plasma HDTV's. A TV downstairs that is set for FTA
Satellite TV and on TV upstairs that is set for local TV (a few channels).
Any warnings?

Watch out for the coconuts on top of the
three very tall coconut trees to the east of the house. The coconuts fall
down from time to time and you do not want to be under them when that
happens.
Crime: Grand Cayman is very safe. There is very little crime but you
should be careful, do no leave valuables in plain view, lock doors., do
not make it easy for crooks to make you one of the few crime victims.
Poisonous animals: The are no poisonous snakes in the island but you may
find a scorpion or centipede if you go out at nigh and start looking under
the rocks. I have never seen one but they are out there. There are some
poisonois fish that look like rocks, (rock fish, scorpion fish).
Other: Watch out for falling coconuts, do not sit under palm trees. Keep
in mind that fantastic snorkling means that the water are full
of creatures... and corals...
Recommendations:
Bring a pair of old snickers or some shoes to use in the water. They come
in very handy when exploring the low tide pools and to venture into the
ocean. As we are practically on the reef it is always a good idea to wear
shoes. Since snorkling is magnificent right in
front of our house it is a good idea to bring a mask, a snorkel, and fins.
Do not bring spear guns, they are not allowed in the island without
special permits.
Water shoes are a must!
Bring some fishing equipment. Fishing in
front of the house is pretty good. You can use the kayak to get further
from the shore and closer to the big fish. For bait locals prefer hermit
crabs, shrimp, or squid
Requests:
Turn off air conditioning and all lights off when you are not in the house
and before you depart.
Make sure all faucets are closed after you use them (Water costs 5 cents
per gallon)
No Smoking. Smoking is not allowed inside the house.
Please close the door if you smoke in the porches or balconies. We are
very strict on this. We will deduct your entire deposit if the house
smells like tobacco when you leave.
Number of bedrooms:
This is a three bedroom house but some bedrooms may remain looked and off
limits depending on how many people will use the house.
Off limits: A boat, and 18 footer, is parked in front of
the house. This boat is not part of the rental
agreement. Please do not touch it. We use the attic to store non valuable
personal items like clothes, shoes. The attic is off limits. When you rent
the house you agree not to go to the attic. Do not go to the attic.
Extra sheets, conforters, and towels: extra
sheets, conforters, and towels can be found under the beds
Extra pots and pans: you will find a wide
selection of pots and pans. Do not forget to look in the lower drawer of
the stove. We store extra pans there.
Extra bulbs: there are extra bulbs in the
kitchen. If you need to buy bulbs we will refund the purchase with your
deposit. Changing bulbs is simple, no need to call a tech...
